The Inspection Department duties and responsibilities
Enforce within the county all state and local laws and local ordinances and regulations relating to: (1) the construction of buildings; (2) the installation of plumbing systems, electrical systems, heating systems, refrigeration systems, and air-conditioning systems; (3) the maintenance of buildings in a safe, sanitary, and healthful conditions; and (4) other matters that may be specified by the Board of Commissioners.
Fire Inspection Schedule
6 Months – Schools
1 Year – Hazardous, Institutional, High-Rise, Assembly, Residential
2 Year – Factory/Industrial, Educational (except Schools)
3 Year – Business, Mercantile, Storage, Churches, Synagogues
Polk County uses the 2006 International Fire Code with North Carolina Amendments.
